Time to Start Thinking Spring at Steele Creek Park!
Spring will soon be upon us. (It really is still winter even though the weather has been more spring-like since last fall!) With spring comes a host of activities at the park.
The annual Tree Keepers program will take place on Saturday, March 10th, from 8 am ’til 3 pm. For only $10 you can enjoy a light breakfast and lunch while learning all about trees: how to select, plant and maintain them, how to identify them in the wild, and why they are so important to us.
On Saturday April 14th you can come to the park and make a difference by helping with the annual Spring Cleanup. The fun begins at 9:30 am and ends at noon. Snacks, gloves, and bags will all be provided. Come help us spiff up the park for the beautiful spring season.
Plan to join our park naturalists, Larry McDaniel and Don Holt, as they lead several fun and informative programs and walks this spring.
- Wednesday, March 21st, 7:30 pm. Larry will present a slide show and demonstration of our region’s night insects.
- Tuesday, April 3rd, 4:00 pm. Don will lead an easy stroll to explore the beautiful spring wildflowers of the park.
- Saturday, April 28th, 8:30 am. Join Larry at Rooster Front Park for a spring bird walk.
- Tuesday, May 15th, 4:00 pm. Don will lead an easy walk focused on tree identification.
All of these events are free and open to the public.
Spring truly is a great time to enjoy the park. We hope to see many of you there for these exciting events!
